Intercoastal Connections: Maritime Heritage, Ecocultural Transition and Mythic Storytelling

CoastARTS UK

CoastARTS UK investigates contemporary performance-based modes of mythic storytelling in response to ecological crises in the more-than-human worlds of maritime cultures. We specifically ask what elements of Classical and Indigenous cosmologies are (or could be) mobilised to shed light on intercoastal connections across different Arctic, European and Pacific sites and what is at stake in such efforts.

Our associated study of knowledge exchange processes entails close cooperation with UK-based cultural sector partners to support artist residencies and practice-led research. This work aims to open dialogues on environmental justice as well as potential modes of environmental activism.
